Govinda can also be translated as 'protector of cows'. Hence Govinda is the supreme being who can be known through the Vedas. Govinda therefore means the all-pervading, omnipresent ruler of the sense organs, or Indriyas. In the word 'Govinda', 'Govu' means Indriyas.
